Here, we cherish the past while creating new traditions for the future. We never imagined turning an elementary school into a destination, but life has a way of leading us to unexpected and beautiful places.

We are Ron and Jenna Fisher. Jenna grew up just over a mile from the school on her family’s farm, and this very school holds deep roots in her family—she, her father, and many relatives once walked its halls. Ron, originally from Iowa, moved to this area over 27 years ago and quickly fell in love with the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the warmth of the Amherst County community.

For over 25 years, we have dedicated our careers as healthcare professionals to caring for others, driven by a deep passion for service, relationships, and the power of human connection. We believe that the best experiences—whether in healthcare, hospitality, or everyday life—come from a genuine commitment to people. Our love for family and fellowship has shaped every aspect of Pleasant Vista, where we aim to create a space where guests feel truly welcomed, valued, and cared for.

Our passion for unique experiences led us to take a leap of faith when the opportunity arose to purchase the closed school. For Jenna, it was a place of lifelong memories and community gatherings. For both of us, it was a chance to breathe new life into a space that had always been full of energy and connection. Then, an unforgettable journey to Italy inspired us to blend its rich culture and timeless beauty into our vision—creating a place where guests can slow down, savor life’s special moments, and make lasting memories.

Moore & Giles Leather

We are proud to partner with Moore & Giles, a world-renowned leather company based in Lynchburg, celebrated for their exceptional craftsmanship and commitment to quality. We were incredibly honored to have Sackett Wood, one of the company’s owners, personally collaborate with us to handpick the finest Italian leather directly from his warehouse, which we used to create the custom leather panels in our groom’s room.

On a recent trip to Italy, we were able to visit the Finco family’s leather factory in Bassano del Grappa, thanks to the Moore & Giles team for coordinating the visit for us. They were so great in working with us, making the experience seamless and truly memorable. During our visit, we learned firsthand the process from start to finish of how this 4th-generation, family-owned business produces exceptional quality hides, and it was inspiring to see why Moore & Giles has partnered with them for over 30 years, a collaboration built on a shared commitment to excellence.

From the selection to installation, this partnership reflects our dedication to our local community and to working with the highest quality companies to create a luxurious, thoughtfully curated experience for our guests. Attention to detail is at the heart of everything we do at our venue, and working closely with Moore & Giles and their Italian partners ensured every element met our high standards.
